Kimura

That's a picture of Kimura a Japanese Judo champion (one on the right). He even worked over
Helio Gracie in a match. He's like Michael Jordan is to basketball, a
legend. You should check out this video of him

So, dad's b-day was last thursday. We did little celebrating since I had
jujitsu last night but I'm taking him to happy hour tonight.
Did anyone notice that hurricane season officially started a couple weeks
ago? And the first tropical storm of the season, Alberto, has come and
gone. I have been slowly working on my hurricane kit, last sunday I got 12
bags of ice and some canned foods. I know dad will have the guns loaded
just in case some looters roll through the neighborhood and we need to "put
a little lead in the air".
JuJitsu test is coming up July 14th so I'm preparing. I've been meeting up
with some of the guys from class on saturdays and working some different
techniques. We have been doing a lot of sparring in these sessions. I feel
like it really helps bring some cohesion to the techniques I learn during
the week. Plus, have you tried to spar for 4 minutes straight? It's
exhausting because of all the energy you expend trying to get a dominant
position on the opponent. Something else we have been doing is sparring
against each other with a knife (it's a fake rubber knife) with the emphasis
being on avoiding fatal cuts and gaining control of the knife. I have learned that I should run from a knife fight.
Dad and Kim are about to close on a second house in the Dalles. I don't
know what that means... But, I guess it does mean that bachelor house will
still be going strong for awhile longer. Dad keeps mentioning Afghanistan
but I don't know if he's actually serious about it. He says if he doesn't
have another job by then he will definitely go. His deployment date is
towards the end of October. I just don't like the idea of him being over
there, he's 57 with a history of heart problems. He will make a lot of
money but I thought he already had that taken care of...
I guess we may be making a 4th of July trip up to Okie land in the corvette,
I'll keep you posted.
