Back to the grind...

Well i'm back at work and recovering from a fun weekend in Oklahoma. Yes I just used fun and oklahoma in the same sentence. I feel like I didn't get to spend enough time with everyone. I did get to witness the union of Mr. and Mrs. Jedd Flower. One of the highlights from the trip was getting to spend the day with my brother. I don't know when the last time that happened. It makes me kinda sad to back at work and wishing i had more time to spend with everyone. But, I guess that will always be the case.

Presidential Address....

Did anyone see the presidential address last night (5/15)? I like how he threw in that part about not playing off the publics fears. How in God's name will be able to control the Southern Border? I guess the price will go up on schwag at least we have the canadian border and bsters. I'm still forming my opinion about all this, what's yours?

Grip Strength

In just about all combat situations and especially if you grapple or train in ju jitsu grip strength is very important. The ability to control your opponent is crucial or at least to hold on to them to finish or attempt the technique. Through training in ju jitsu I found that my grip was pretty poor (even with all that masturbation, go figure) and by working on my grip my throws and submissions are getting more effective. I use a wrist roller (don't buy these make it yourself, it's easy just ask I'll explain), captains of crush grippers, hangs and sandbags for my training. Not only has my grip improved but so has my all around wrist strength and health, since I spend most of my days typing on a keyboard I'm hoping my training will counter carpel tunnel and what not.

I found most of the information for my training on these websites:

Ironmind (Check out the training tips on the left)
Captains of Crush (Buy these)
DieselCrew (These guys have some pretty radical training techniques)
Grapplearts

mmmm Food...

I found this article on msn from Men's Health about healing food to be pretty interesting give it a look.

Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo Everyone!

FYI: Cinco De Mayo marks the day when an untrained Mexican army of peasants defeated a highly-skilled French army in the town of Puebla, Mexico in 1862. This day is a celebration of patriotism, much like our Independence Day. Mexico's Independance day is Sept. 16
